What is the ecotax?
The Ecotasa or Sustainable Tourism Tax, is a tax approved by the Balearic Government since July 2016. Its objective is to make investments linked to the preservation of the environment and sustainable tourism.
Its promoters defend that it was created to mitigate the consequences that tourism causes in our territory. The operation of the Ecotasa is similar to VAT. The person responsible for the payment to the Treasury is the tourist marketing company (hotels, hostels, cruise ships, private homes for tourist leases, etc.) which will later recover the amount by adding it to the client on the invoice.
Who is obliged to pay the Ecotax?
Everyone over 16 years of age as long as none of the following causes occurs: stays caused by force majeure, relatives of patients who have to travel to the Islands for treatment and stays subsidized by social programs of any EU country .
What amount must I pay for the Ecotax?
The tax will vary depending on the time of year in which the Islands are visited (in low season it is reduced by half), as well as the accommodation chosen. The fee can vary from €0.25 to €2 per person per day.
Documentation necessary to formalize the rental agreement
Upon signing the vacation rental contract, guests should provide their identity documents or passports, and an address for possible notifications. The accommodation marketer is obliged to carry out a record book of the occupancy of the accommodation.
Linens and towels
The apartments are rented with bed linen and a set of towels per guest (one for the shower and one for the sink).
Deposit
It is a deposit that guests must leave before handing over the keys so that in the event of damage during their stay. Tthis money can be used to deal with these repairs or damages. On departure the apartment will be checked and if everything is in optimal conditions, the reservation will be returned within the maximum period indicated in the contract.
Checking and checkout
Whenever possible, we will try to make the arrival and departure times of the apartments more flexible in order to adapt to the needs of the guests, but we depend on our cleaning team and other accommodation reservations.
Reception of travelers
We try to deliver the keys in person with our clients, although each accommodation has a box with the key inside. Given the impossibility of coordinating the delivery, the guest is provided with the code before their arrival.
Cleaning extras, towels and bed linen
They are possible on request and at an extra cost over the prices per night.
Covid protocol
We comply with all the Covid protocols regarding the management of cleaning the apartments.
